USTDC Process Engineering will leverage our model and process expertise with our insights of new and updated Systems and Software related NPDs, NPRs and standards to provide our customers with an Industry-based best practice portfolio for efficient, effective Project Management methods. Our Process Engineering services offer descriptive rather than prescriptive recommendations for improvement. This approach allows us to best serve the specific process improvement needs of our customers in the short term as well as for longer range planning. Process Engineering is an approach to integrating business rules, policy and procedures into both Systems and Software Engineering practices in an organization. USTDC's Systems Engineering organization uses the Carnegie Melon, Software Engineering Institute's (SEI) Capability Maturity Model Integration (CMMI) as its primary model of best practices. The CMMI framework consists of 25 process areas that cover effective and efficient development, support and maintenance over a product's lifecycle, which provides connectivity among engineering, support and managerial functional areas. Within our organization we have contributing members on both the NASA KSC Engineering Process Group (EPG) as well as Directorate EPGs at KSC. We have supported and participated in the NASA Agency Software Process Initiative, as outlined in the Agency Plan.
